1. By Room Dimensions The most common rule is to add the room's length and width in feet. That total in inches is your ideal chandelier diameter.
Formula: Length (ft) + Width (ft) = Diameter (in)
Example: For a 12' x 14' room, look for a 26-inch diameter fixture.

2. By Dining Table Width If the chandelier is hanging over a table, it should be scaled to the furniture rather than the room.
Rule: Choose a diameter that is 1/2 to 2/3 the width of your table.
Safety: The fixture should be at least 6 inches narrower than the table on all sides.

3. Pro Tip If you are between two sizes, always choose the larger one. A slightly larger chandelier creates a professional "statement" look, while a small one often looks out of scale.
